Our Commitment to Employee Well-being and Psychological Safety at Marlowe Fire & Security Group

At Marlowe Fire & Security Group (MFSG), we are dedicated to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging workplace for all our employees.

The introduction of the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 strengthens the legal framework that protects workers from harassment in the workplace. This crucial legislation addresses the need for a more proactive approach to managing the well-being of our team members, and we are fully aligned with its requirements.

At MFSG, we operate under a strict zero-tolerance policy towards harassment or discrimination in any form. This applies not only to direct interactions between employees but also extends to anyone else that our employees engage with in the course of their work, including but not limited to, suppliers, contractors and customers. The reciprocal protection of our employees and our external partners is paramount.

How the Worker Protection Act 2023 Impacts Our Business

At MFSG, we are fully prepared for this change. We already have strong measures in place to prevent and address any form of harassment or discrimination. Further, we have good routines in place for employee check ins, 121’s and continuous development reviews, (which we call our ‘VIP’s’). All these mechanisms have space to discuss wellbeing and employee’s general welfare.

We have many opportunities to provide support to and seek feedback from our employees; we have paid particular attention during the onboarding period to ensure our employees settle in well and we have also utilised the exit interview stage as a final opportunity to address any issues before a person leaves the organisation.

It is imperative that we strengthen our support to our People Managers, ensuring they are responsive in addressing concerns, and they are effectively supporting their team members.

MFSG have good policies and procedures which outline clear standards and behaviours expected in the workplace; The HR team has reviewed all policies and procedures that references employee conduct and behaviour to ensure they remain fit for purpose considering this most recent legislation.

Creating a Safe, Inclusive, and Engaging Workplace

We want MFSG to be a place where every employee feels valued, supported, and listened to. Our employee value proposition centres around creating a culture that prioritises well-being, engagement, and inclusivity.

1. Speak Up & Whistleblower Policies: We are committed to fostering a transparent culture where employees feel safe to voice their concerns without fear of retaliation. We take every report seriously and act swiftly to resolve any issues and in complete confidence.
2. Regular support and coaching: We believe in equipping our managers with the tools to provide effective leadership. Through regular coaching and training, our managers are equipped to handle workplace challenges with empathy and professionalism, ensuring that our team members are supported regardless of level.
3. Culture of learning: From harassment prevention to diversity and inclusion, we offer a range of training programs that empower employees to contribute to a respectful and collaborative workplace. We understand that creating an inclusive culture requires continuous learning and commitment from everyone.

At MFSG, we are not just complying with legislation—we are embracing it as an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to our people. We are dedicated to cultivating a workplace where every employee, regardless of their role or background, feels secure, respected, and part of a thriving community of likeminded professionals.

As we move forward, I want to encourage open dialogue and collaboration to ensure that we continue to build a culture that reflects our values. Together, we can make MFSG a place where everyone feels empowered to do their best work.
