At Marlowe, our commitment to protecting the future of the planet is all- encompassing.
We’re taking significant actions to reduce our environmental footprint wherever possible, embedding sustainability into every part of our business operations, including how we source our IT equipment across the group.
We partner with trusted suppliers who specialise in providing high-quality refurbished IT equipment. These partners take retired corporate devices, upgrade them with new memory, storage, and a fresh Windows license, resulting in equipment that feels as good as new.
This approach allows our employees to enjoy a modern IT setup that is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly. In 2023, we purchased 283 laptops, and over 80% of these were refurbished.
Additionally, our skilled IT team aim to extend the life of our technology for as long as possible. They repair and upgrade equipment in-house—such as damaged screens and batteries—and reallocate these devices across the company. This practice not only reduces waste but also prevents unnecessary disposal of equipment.
Once a device is beyond economical repair, our team carefully strips it for reusable parts and processes the remaining waste in compliance with the WEEE directive. This ensures that any electronic waste is disposed of safely and responsibly, minimising its impact on the environment.
In addition to this, we offer our employees the opportunity to purchase personal refurbished equipment from our partners at a discounted rate. This not only helps them save on new technology but also reduces their individual environmental footprint, all while providing them with quality devices backed by a warranty.
By choosing refurbished equipment, prolonging the life of our technology, and adhering to the WEEE directive, we aim to promote sustainable practices within the industry. As we continue to grow as a business, initiatives like these become increasingly important in ensuring a positive future for our planet.
