Sustainable Development Goals

Through our Protecting Tomorrow Strategy, Marlowe Fire & Security Group is commited to helping secure the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals set by the United Nations in 2015, used as a plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity, with hopes of achievement for 2030.

Marlowe Fire & Security Group makes progress towards 8 of the 17 SDG’s but closely focuses on mapping our activity to 4 of them.

Working with all residential facilities, including:

It is understood that no business can focus on all 17 SDGs, nor are they all relevant.

Whilst the company’s operations span up to 8 of the goals, we have decided to focus our efforts on 4 goals that are at the core of our business operations, and that encompass many other important goals within.

SDG 3 is a crucial focus for our company, as our people are our greatest asset.

We strive to ensure our employees are always as healthy and well as possible, through offering free flu jabs, annual health checks, providing a free counselling service, and promoting healthier commuting methods through Cycle2Work. Additionally, employees have the freedom to attend medical appointments, donate blood, or support a relatives where necessary.

Our field engineers are safeguarded by stringent health and safety policies, including lone worker systems, and a safe driving policy to maximize road safety for all. These comprehensive measures ensure a healthy workforce, supporting business growth and contributing to both SDG 3 and SDG 8.

SDG 8 is an important goal focused on providing equal opportunities for everyone to access productive work that delivers a fair income, prospects for development, and security in the workplace.

Our business actively works towards achieving this goal through providing ample opportunities to current and prospective employees.

We also operate a responsible procurement initiative that ensures all suppliers conform to ILO conventions for good employment practices and workplace safety.

Economic growth is facilitated by diversification, technological upgrading, and innovation, which is driven by Marlowe’s continual innovation and acquisition within its sector. Due to SDG 8’s broad scope, encompassing other goals such as SDG 5, 9, 10, and 12, it remains a critical focus for our business.

SDG 10 aims to minimize inequalities based on sex, race, disability, income, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion.

It encompasses SDG 5 and links to SDG 4 and 3, as promoting health, wellbeing, and quality education has a significant impact on reducing inequalities.

As part of Protecting Tomorrow, our company actively promotes diversity, inclusivity, and equality. We adopt a merit-based approach to ensure the best fit for roles and maintain equality and fairness in recruitment, development assessments, and employee retention.

The business is seeking BS76005 and Investors in People accreditations, demonstrating our dedication to providing equal opportunities and our zero-tolerance approach to discrimination.

We actively encourage the recruitment of disabled persons and ex-Armed Forces personnel, with Marlowe being a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant.

SDG 10 addresses many social and economic issues, making it a critical focus for our business.

In recent years, we have become increasingly aware of the environmental impact of our operations.

To address this, we employ EcoVadis as an external auditor to score our environmental progress and identify areas for improvement.

To advance towards SDG 13, we have implemented various climate action measures with the ambitious goal of reducing our CO2 footprint by 10% per annum.

Our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint include increasing the fuel efficiency of our van fleet and actively encouraging employees to choose electric vehicles for company cars.

Additionally, our Cycle2Work scheme promotes environmentally friendly commuting.

SDG 13 is a major focus for us as we recognize the urgent threat of the climate crisis and are committed to doing our part to mitigate it.
